Safety Red Paint 1 Gallon

SKU# P1GLFIIE50RE (Greer Janitorial specific SKU)

Glidden® Farm & Implement exterior alkyd enamel provides tough protection to resist stains, scuffs and chips. For use on machinery, equipment, piping, tanks, masonry, and other metal surfaces, it is durable and scrubbable so it works as hard as the equipment it protects.

Area Preparation:

Surfaces to be coated must be sound, clean, and dry. Remove all loose, peeling paint, dirt, grease, mildew, form release agents, curing compounds, efflorescence, and any other foreign surface contaminants. Sand all glossy, rough and patched surfaces. Prime all new wood, drywall, concrete, plaster, masonry, metal, and porous surfaces with an appropriate primer. WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust or fumes. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST OR FUMES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a properly fitted NOISH-approved respirator and prevent skin contact to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the USEPA National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead. Follow these instructions to control exposure to other hazardous substances that may be released during surface preparation.

Application:

Stir thoroughly. Apply with a high quality brush, roller, paint pad, or by spray equipment.  When using more than one container of the same color, intermix to ensure color uniformity. Do not thin. Two coats will provide best durability and uniformity. Surfaces coated with this product may become slippery when wet. For additional slip resistance in areas of pedestrian traffic, add one pound per gallon of coarse pumice or other texturing material.

Application Temperature:

Apply only when air, product, and surface temperatures are at or above 40°F (4°C).

Drying Time:

Dry time at 77°F and 50% relative humidity. To Touch: 5 hours   To Handle: 8 hours. Recoat: 24 hours. Drying times listed may vary depending on temperature, humidity, color, film build and air movement.

Coverage:

Approximately 400 sq. ft. (37.2 sq. meters) per U.S. gallon (3.78 Liters) on primed, smooth, nonporous substrates. Coverage figures do not include loss due to surface irregularities and porosity or material loss due to application method or mixing. Some colors, or drastic color changes, or porous substrates may require more than one coat to achieve a uniform finish.

Cleanup:

Cleanup tools immediately with mineral spirits or VM&P Naphtha. DANGER – RAGS, STEEL WOOL OR WASTE SOAKED WITH FARM & IMPLEMENT MAY SPONTANEIOUSLY CATCH FIRE IF IMPROPERLY DISCARDED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH USE, PLACE RAGS, STEEL WOOL OR WASTE IN A SEALED WATER-FILLED METAL CONTAINER.

Recommended Substrates:

Interior and exterior safety equipment and piping, farm implements, machinery, and tank exteriors, metal surfaces, masonry, wood and wallboard.
